5 Valve Manifold Direct Mount

What is 5-Valve Manifold Direct Mount?

A 5 way manifold valve is equipped with two block valves, one equalizing valve, and two vent or test valves. The block valves on the high and low-pressure sides are identified by blue handles, the equalization valve by a green handle, and the bleed valves by red handles.

In standard operating conditions, the block valves stay open, while the bleed and equalizing valves are maintained closed. A common application of a 5-way manifold valve is in a differential pressure transmitter. When testing the transmitter’s zero, the block valve is shut, and the equalizing valve is opened. For calibration involving 3 or 5-point calibration, the test valve is connected to a pressure generator once pressure equalization has been achieved.

The robust design of these manifolds enables them to withstand severe pressures and temperatures. When equipped with PTFE packing, these manifolds can endure pressures of up to 6000 psi at 200°F or 4000 psi at 500°F. For higher temperatures, Grafoil Packing is employed.

Applications of 5 Valve Manifold – Direct Mount

The 5 valve manifold (direct mount) is primarily used with differential pressure transmitters where high accuracy, safety, and ease of maintenance are critical. This configuration consists of two block valves, one equalizing valve, and two bleed valves, offering complete control for isolation, equalization, and venting. The direct mounting design allows the manifold to be connected straight to the transmitter, saving space and reducing the number of potential leak points.

  • Differential Pressure Measurement: Ideal for transmitters requiring precise calibration and safe isolation without process interruption.
  • Oil & Gas Refineries and Pipelines: Used for accurate monitoring of flow, pressure, and level in high-pressure and high-temperature systems.
  • Chemical and Petrochemical Plants: Ensures safe calibration and venting of instruments in corrosive and hazardous environments.
  • Power Generation Facilities: Applied in turbines, boilers, and auxiliary systems for secure differential pressure measurement and control.
  • Water Treatment & Desalination Plants: Provides reliable transmitter isolation and equalization in pumping, filtration, and distribution systems.

Key Advantages in Applications

The 5 valve manifold (direct mount) is primarily used with differential pressure transmitters where high accuracy, safety, and ease of maintenance are critical. This configuration consists of two block valves, one equalizing valve, and two bleed valves, offering complete control for isolation, equalization, and venting. The direct mounting design allows the manifold to be connected straight to the transmitter, saving space and reducing the number of potential leak points.

  • Direct mounting eliminates additional piping, reducing leak paths.
  • Offers complete valve functionality – isolation, equalization, and venting.
  • Enhances accuracy and safety in transmitter calibration.
  • Reduces maintenance downtime and simplifies servicing.
  • Compact design makes it suitable for space-constrained panels or skids.pumping, filtration, and distribution systems.
