3 Valve Manifold Remote Mount

What is 3 Valve Manifold Remote Mount?

A 3 valve manifold comprises two block valves and one equalizing valve. Differential pressure transmitters commonly utilize 3 way manifold valves as part of their configuration. The block valves are distinguished by blue handles, while the equalization valve typically features a green handle. In normal operation, the block valves are in the open position, and the equalizing valve is closed.

The block valves in a 3 way manifold valve serve to isolate the instrument. The equalizing valve is situated between the high and low process connections of the pressure instrument, ensuring equal pressures on both sides.

The 3 valve manifold is rarely employed in the oil and gas industry because it lacks a test connection. However, certain 3 valve manifolds come equipped with a blocked test connection.

Featuring PTFE packing, these manifolds can endure pressures of up to 6000 PSI at 200°F or 4000 PSI at 500°F. Grafoil Packing is employed for higher temperature applications.

Applications of 3 Valve Manifold Remote Mount

The 3 valve manifold (remote mount) is widely used in instrumentation systems where differential pressure transmitters are installed away from the process line. This configuration includes two block valves and one equalizing valve, allowing operators to isolate, equalize, and calibrate instruments without disrupting the process. The remote mounting design ensures safe operation, easy maintenance, and reliable pressure measurement in challenging industrial environments.

  • Differential Pressure Transmitters: Essential for connecting transmitters to remote process lines, ensuring accurate pressure measurement and calibration.
  • Oil & Gas Pipelines and Refineries: Provides safe isolation and equalization for pressure instruments in remote or hazardous locations.
  • Chemical & Petrochemical Plants: Used in corrosive and high-pressure systems where transmitters must be mounted away from aggressive media.
  • Power Generation Systems: Applied in boilers, turbines, and auxiliary systems for reliable differential pressure measurement and control.
  • Water Treatment & Desalination Plants: Ensures safe pressure monitoring and calibration in filtration, pumping, and distribution systems where transmitters cannot be panel-mounted.

Key Advantages in Applications

  • Allows safe remote installation of pressure instruments.
  • Ensures accurate differential pressure measurement in critical processes.
  • Provides equalization and isolation without system shutdown.
  • Enhances operator safety by keeping instruments away from harsh or hazardous process media.
  • Reduces downtime during maintenance and calibration.
